 Auto trans? Reply  Edit

Im looking to pick up a 4 door LS, and was wondering what the power limit is to an auto in one. Being a DD and me tired of driving a manual for years in traffic, it wont get swapped. The car may go LS/VTEC or GSR, which is doubtful. The converter will probably get re=stalled too. Are there any other issues with these trannies?

Either go low and slow, or daily 1000whp. You choose.

Just get the trans flushed when it says you are supposed to in the manual and you will have no problems.

There is some things you can do to make the shifts a little firmer, I read it in some old ass mag at my boys shop that his dad gets. His dad gets these specialty transmission magazines (his dad is one of the top trans guys in our area) and it featured a tech article on how to make Honda Auto transmissions shift/perform better. I will see if I can dig it up for ya.

Its called a shift kit. It ups the line pressure using different balls, springs and a little modifications to the valve body. That part is easy enough. The stall is what Id like to figure out.

That I know, but they don't sell shift kits for honda's You have to creat your own. As for converters, I could of sworn TCI made a converter with higher stall speeds a long time ago. I highly doubt they do anymore if they did. I know somebody made one. I may be wrong on the company though.

Ive got a local guy that nails the converter dead on 9 times out of 10. He can do the trans up just as easy. I was just hoping someone has gone through a few converters and found a good stall speed.

Why do you need power if you are keeping it automatic anyway? IT's your daily. Just enjoy the mileage you can get and the easy cruising haha

It needs to have a little fun factor to it. Being able to merge would be a nice thing too lol

The guy wants to trade my beater for this, as a straight trade.

That is by far sexier than a Prelude.

First off those do not look like enkei's on that car, secondly 1.8 liters dont have timing chains. Thirdly automatic Honda and fun factor do not belong in the same sentence.

Why stress so much over an automatic transmission? The money and time you will spend on it could get you another car!
